Job Description
The GSE for Mental Health Community Engagement will assist the Assistant Director for Community Engagement (AD of CE) and the Outreach Coordinator (OC) in all WFU community initiatives associated with promoting positive mental health. The GSE will be responsible for the following:
- Develop visual content and design marketing material (social media, flyers, signage, monitors, etc.) for outreach efforts, awareness campaigns, education sessions/workshops, and group counseling offerings.
- Provide leadership for the Student Mental Health Ambassador (SMHA) peer education group by assisting with logistical and other administrative tasks.
- Assist in coordination and administrative tasks associated with all outward facing Counseling Center programs including Suicide Prevention trainings, Exam Fairies, and other mental health screening events
- Required skills or prerequisites:
Excellent written and oral communication skills:
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Efficient use of technology & design (e.g. Canva, Office suite, Google suite products) and creating effective marketing strategies
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and building cultural humility
- Ability to work effectively with teams and collaborate across the Division of Campus Life on programming efforts
- Initiative and ability to work independently
Preferred education and skills:
- Interest in, experience with, and/or coursework in program development and assessment
- Graphic design and marketing experience. Ability to create eye-catching, engaging, and informative program flyers and social media content via Canva
- Videography and video editing skills to create UCC promotional content
- Experience with designing and implementing programs
