Job Description
- Assists departments and organizations in providing excellent customer service.
- Assists departments and organizations with marketing and distributing various publicity/promotional items.
- Assists with daily activities, exhibitions and special events.
- Cleans, maintains, and runs printing equipment., Interest and/or connection to department
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
- No experience required – Will train.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Provide customer service in person and over the phone.
- Routine duties will vary by specific projects.
- Typical duties include: filing, typing, sorting, collating, maintaining records, light clerical work, running errands, giving information, receiving and routing telephone calls, scheduling appointments, unpacking materials, assist with mail – sort, process, issue, deliver and load/unload, and operating office equipment.

Job summary:
The Federal Work-Study Office Assistant provides essential administrative support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Center for Global Programs & Studies. This position offers a valuable opportunity for a current college student to gain practical experience in an office environment while contributing to the overall mission of the GPS.
Duties and responsibilities
Welcome and greet visitors and students entering the office in a friendly and professional manner.
Answer incoming phone calls, screen and route calls appropriately, and take accurate messages when needed.
Perform clerical duties such as filing, scanning, copying, and organizing documents and paperwork.
Assist with maintaining the neatness and organization of the office space.
May assist with other miscellaneous office tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Must be eligible for the Federal Work-Study Program as determined by the WFU Financial Aid Office.
Current enrollment as a college student at WFU.
Ability to work approximately 10 hours per week.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Basic computer skills and proficiency in using common office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable and punctual.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred qualifications:
Previous office experience or experience in a customer service role.
Knowledge of specific office procedures or software used in the department/office.
Work environment
The Federal Work-Study Office Assistant will work in an office setting. The typical work schedule will be during regular business hours (between 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday), with some flexibility depending on student availability and departmental needs. The position may require sitting for extended periods and occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.
